Lanterns in the Labyrinth – A Bard’s Song

I’ve been working away on The Labyrinth of Time’s Edge for so long that the idea struck me — why not give it a drinking song of its own? Something you could imagine being sung in a tavern inside the game, voices raised together under the glow of lantern light. That thought led me to write “Lanterns in the Labyrinth”, an original anthem for this world I’ve been carving out room by room for decades. It’s playful, heartfelt, and full of the same spirit that drives the game itself, so I figured, why not share it with all of you? So grab a drink of choice and have a good sing.

(An original anthem for The Labyrinth of Time’s Edge)

Verse 1

In the quiet glow of a late-night screen,
I draw out halls where the air grows lean.
Lines of code, a pen in hand,
A world I’ve built, a world I planned.

Thirty years through paper and stone,
Every room carved, every word my own.
Not just a game, but a dream I keep,
A labyrinth vast, and it runs so deep.

Chorus

Lanterns in the labyrinth, light the way ahead,
EXAMINE every shadow, hear what’s left unsaid.
TALK to fading spirits, USE what time can’t take,
The world is waiting there’s a path for you to MAKE.

Verse 2

Strange NPCs in forgotten halls,
Echoes of crowns on broken walls.
Dusty commands bring stories alive,
Every TAKE a memory, each line will survive.

From QBasic roots the journey grew,
A hand-built maze made just for you.
No blinking cursors, no hollow sound,
Only a lantern where secrets are found.

Chorus

Lanterns in the labyrinth, light the way ahead,
EXAMINE every shadow, hear what’s left unsaid.
TALK to fading spirits, USE what time can’t take,
The world is waiting there’s a path for you to MAKE.

Bridge

One room at a time, the story unfolds,
A forgotten world that never grows old.
Carved in silence, shaped by night,
The labyrinth breathes in the lantern’s light.

Final Chorus

Lanterns in the labyrinth, burning through the years,
Every map a memory, every word sincere.
EXAMINE, TALK, USE, and TAKE the journey never ends,
The Labyrinth of Time’s Edge is calling you, my friends. And I’m making The Labyrinth of Time’s Edge for us.
