A Love Letter to the World of Text Adventures

With every passing day, I dedicate myself to working on my game—a project born from a deep passion. This isn’t just a game for me; it’s a love letter to the timeless genre of computer games. It’s a world shaped by words, where the most powerful graphics processor is the human mind.

In this ever-expanding realm, you take on the role of the adventurer. Just when you think you’ve reached the end, another twist or turn pulls you deeper into the abyss of discovery. The journey never truly stops—it grows and evolves with every waking thought I pour into it.

Right now, I’m crafting new portions of the game that will take players on even greater adventures. The Temple of Knowledge is one of these places—a mysterious, ancient structure brimming with secrets waiting to be unraveled. There’s also a vast mine, rich with green ore, where players will uncover the story of an ancient civilization wiped out by a devastating plague. These are more than just locations; they are pieces of a larger story I can’t wait for you to explore.

I can’t seem to hit the pause button when it comes to creating this game. My days are a blur of work, family, and pouring every ounce of energy into this labor of love. If I miss even a single day, I feel as though I’ve failed. Yet, everything inspires me. Old design documents, game manuals, the backs of vintage game boxes, and text adventures from my youth—they all stoke the fire within me to create something extraordinary.

As of now, my game has reached an exciting milestone: 781 rooms. I often find myself thinking of classics like Zork and other text adventures—not to compare sizes, but because they inspire me. Those games sparked my imagination as a child, and now, I aim to create something that pays homage to them.

Here in Alberta, where I live, the winter has been especially harsh lately. But the cold has been the perfect backdrop for immersing myself in these classic text adventures. Many of them were created by just one or two people, yet they possess a charm and originality that still captivate players today. Haunted castles, mysterious towns, cursed farms, epic quests to save kingdoms from dragons or wizards—these stories hold endless possibilities, and they remind me why I fell in love with this genre in the first place.

I don’t mean to sound overly nostalgic, but these inspirations are at the heart of why I’m creating The Labyrinth of Time’s Edge. It’s not just a game; it’s an experience, a journey, and a tribute to the magic of storytelling.

So, I invite you to download Version 1.6 today. Step into the labyrinth, meet its many characters, explore the ruins of a forgotten world, and become the adventurer you’ve always dreamed of being.

Your journey awaits.
